A visit in a workshop where hat forms are made!

I travelled 300 km across the country to visit an unusual place. It is a workshop where wooden, aluminum and electric hat forms are produced.

The basic oval discs made from various types of wood are glued together using G clamps. The last element is partially carved using the digital machine that copies the original form.

Some of the hats have to be finished by hand and these cost 300 zlotys (Polish money) (approx 70 eu) , I was there for 2.5 hours and the hat that has been carved at that time has not been finished! The tools used were very sharp, the shaping looked like a piece of cake, but believe me, it was not easy at all!

please note the lovely old bench used as a clamp when shaping the hat

To be continued....
